Africa Tobacco Control Regional Initiative (ATCRI)

Our Programmes

ATCRI has embarked on several activities across the continent aimed at realizing its core objectives. ATCRI works to:

• Improve access, dissemination and exchange of information to tobacco control advocates, health officials, legislators and other stakeholders’ by creating a multilingual information source of national, regional and international resources on tobacco control.
• Build capacity of tobacco control advocates, health officials, legislators and other stakeholders through training and technical assistance.
• Work with coalitions, institutions and other actors involved in tobacco control
• Promote research and disseminate findings in key areas of tobacco control

In realizing those objectives ATCRI is undergoing these activities:

1. Tobacco Control Policy and Advocacy Trainings
2. Capacity Building for Media Advocacy
3. Creation of Journalists Networks
4. Technical Assistance to national groups
5. Six-countries tobacco control Situational Analysis
6. Language support (French, English , Portuguese )
7. Hosts the Africa Tobacco Control Resource Centre
8. Technical Support on Effective Implementation of FCTC Article 11
